Sit Pay
Sit Pay is a new component of TA2 intended to reduce sit time between flights. Whenever a Flight Attendant is scheduled or rescheduled for a sit that is longer than two hours and thirty minutes (2:30) between two flight segments in the same duty period, this new contractual language ensures that Flight Attendants are compensated.
When do I get Sit Pay?
Sit Pay is triggered whenever a pairing is scheduled or rescheduled with a sit time of more than two hours and thirty minutes (2:30) between two flight segments within the same duty period.
“Scheduled”, for the purpose of Sit Pay, refers to both published and operational pairings. Sit Pay is based on your originally scheduled arrival and departure times, regardless of the actual operational times.
“Rescheduled” means that you have been reassigned or drafted, either before the start of your original trip or while in the operation. If the reassignment or draft creates a rescheduled sit of greater than two hours and thirty minutes (2:30), you are now entitled to Sit Pay.
Delays in the operation that lead to extended ground time beyond your originally scheduled sit will not generate Sit Pay.
How is Sit Pay Paid?
Anytime your scheduled or rescheduled sit time between flight segments is greater than two hours and thirty minutes (2:30), you earn one minute of pay for every two minutes.
This will be reflected in your pay register as Add Pay.
Sit Pay and Cancellations/Replacement Pairings
If your original pairing, which was scheduled to include Sit Pay, is removed from your schedule and you are not given a replacement pairing, then you will keep any Sit Pay from the protected pairing.
If your original pairing, which was scheduled to include Sit Pay, is removed from your schedule and you are given a replacement pairing, then any Sit Pay would be based solely on the replacement pairing to which you are rescheduled.
SIT PAY EXAMPLE:
Scheduled (Original)
D1101 RPT –> 07:15
1 DEN LGA 0815 1358 (Sit 1:22)
1 LGA ORD 1520 1705 (Sit 2:48) (+:18)
1 ORD GRR 1953 2159 (layover)18:56
(SHERATON HOTEL)
2 GRR ORD 1655 1704 (Sit 2:53) (+:23)
2 ORD DEN 1957 2155
The scheduled sit times of 2:48 and 2:53 both qualify for Sit Pay because they are over 2:30. Total eligible sit time for the pairing is :41 minutes (+:18 and +:23 respectively ) for a calculated Sit Pay of 20.5 minutes (:41 divided by 2).
Actual (“Updated” in CCS)
D1101 RPT –> 07:15
1 DEN LGA 0815 1358 (Sit 1:22)
1 LGA ORD 1520 1725 (Sit 2:28) decreased sit time due to operation
1 ORD GRR 1953 2159 (layover)18:56
(SHERATON HOTEL)
2 GRR ORD 1655 1734 (Sit 2:23) decreased sit time due to operation
2 ORD DEN 1957 2155
Even though the actual (updated) sit times were less than scheduled (and below 2:31) the FA completed all the scheduled sits in the pairing and would therefore be paid based on the originally scheduled value of the sit times.
